1948 Presidential Election Results
Harry S. Truman (Democratic) won the 1948 presidential election with 303 of 531 electoral votes, defeating Thomas E. Dewey (Republican, 189) and Strom Thurmond (States' Rights Democratic, 39). Truman also won the popular vote with 51.0%. One Tennessee elector pledged to Truman voted for Strom Thurmond.
